Cave Lake State Park
There is a group of people at work that are going camping and fishing this weekend to Cave Lake State Park. I had never heard of it before, so I did a little research, and it to is on my list of must go places as soon as we can get back out in the wilderness.
Cave Lake sits 15 miles southeast of Ely, Nevada. The 32-acre reservoir at Cave Lake State Park is popular for trout fishing, crawdadding, boating, hiking, picnicking and camping. Sounds just like our kind of place! I dug around on Flickr and found some pictures to share.

It’s just beautiful, and I am jealous that they are going. If I had worked here back when they planned it, I’m sure we’d be going with them. At least now I know who the campers are here, and we can plan some more trips in the future.
Wysi Wipe
I just have to tell you about this cool product I came across on the internet. I got a free sample in the mail, and I’m telling you, I was really impressed. Wysi Wipe is a compressed towelette that requires water to expand. They are 100% natural, and biodegradable. They are small and compact and perfect to take camping and hiking, as they take up less than an inch of your pack, and weigh only 2 grams.

Not only camping and hiking, but they are so handy you can take them in your car, diaper bag, purse, anywhere that you may need a wipe to clean up spills, and messy faces or hands. You can check out the Wysi Wipe site for ordering information, and to see videos of them in action, but I thought I would make my own, to show you that they REALLY WORK!
I’m impressed! The Wysi Wipes should be in everyone’s backpack!

A really useful firstaid kit should always be accessible for health emergencies around your workplace, residence, or on road for traveling purposes. This firstaid kit should have appropriate antibiotics and antiseptic in it. The really good firstaid kits should contain cold pack to reduce emergency arthritis pain and muscles aches.

Wheeler Peak Campground
I just reading on this site that Wheeler Peak Campground is ranked the number one campsite in the state of Nevada.
Spectacular! Drive up the scenic Wheeler Peak Drive and step into another facet of Nevada. You start in semi-desert areas with sagebrush, piƱon pines and junipers. Keep climbing and they give way to spruce and Douglas fir. Up top it is extremely beautiful with quaking aspen, limber pine and spruce intermingling in a dense forest, uncharacteristic of Nevada. This whole mountain looks as if it were transplanted out of Colorado somewhere.
Now doesn’t that sound awesome? I searched around and found some pictures also.

This definitely looks like a campground that we have to add to our list of trips.

Storage Containers
Oh I found another piece of camping equipment that I don’t think I would have any use for, but I guess some people might? It’s a small locking, waterproof box for jewelry. Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t wear jewelry while camping. I mean I have my rings on, but I don’t ever take them off, so I’m just not sure about this product. Do you wear jewelry camping? I guess Paris Hilton would.
Camping Kitchen Suppy Storage
I was making a list of the equipment that we need for camping. It seems like every time we are out on a trip, there is something that we say we need next time. So I started this list that we can take to REI next time we go. One of the things that I want is a kitchen stowaway cabinet. They are rugged boxes with sturdy cabinet hardware, where you can keep all your kitchen supplies in one safe place, and away from the bears!

The Other Day I Met A Bear
Oh I just remembered a camping trip I took with a group of kids when I was around 11. We were all sitting around the campfire singing the typical camp songs. This time we were singing about the bear is the woods. You know it, right?
The other day
I met a bear
A great big bear
Away out there!
We didn’t know it while we were singing, but one of the parents had dressed up in a bear animal costume and popped out of the trees growling and chasing us. All us kids started screaming and running to our cabins. He scared the crap out of me.
It’s just one of the random things that popped in my head today that I thought I would share it. Now that I think about it, that was pretty messed up to scare little kids like that. LOL!
What Clothes To Bring For Backpacking
While researching what to pack as far as clothing when backpacking, I came across a website on disposable undergarments. On long backpacking trips, disposable underwear products are perfect for camping because you don’t have to use limited backpack space with re-packing dirty underwear, or washing them out in a stream. You can just wear, and toss in your trash bags, that you are taking out with you, right?? And they are friendly to the environment as long as you dispose of them properly.
Red Rock Canyon Pictures
We didn’t get out yesterday like I had wanted to. I realized there was so much to be done around here, and if I let it go another weekend, it would drive me nuts. I don’t know about you, but a dirty kitchen makes me just so aggravated, and my family is in need of a Raleigh personal injury lawyer, if I find they didn’t clean up after themselves. So I spent the day cleaning and doing laundry. I did find some pictures online to share with you though. Enjoy! We’ll get up there soon enough, I hope.

Red Rock Canyon
The weather is actually starting to cool down a little bit here, so I think we’re going to get out into nature tomorrow. I would like to see a couple movies this weekend, but the idea of home theater seating, just doesn’t sound as appealing as setting up a little picnic for the two of us.
We’re going to head to Red Rock Canyon, which is just on the west side of Las Vegas. When I’m driving into work everyday, I can see the beautiful red rocks shining in the sun and it always looks so inviting. I can’t wait to get up there! I’ll take a lot of pictures and share them over the weekend.
Flushie’s Summer Vacation
I’m just checking in real quick to let you guys know about the “Right to Know for Clean Waters Campaign.” Basically what American Rivers is trying to support is the passing of legislation that would require the public to be notified when sewage gets dumped into our lakes and rivers.
With your support, they are going to approach Congress in late September with Flushie the talking toilets web site and cartoon. The more people that comment, the stronger the message is to Congress.
So please, do me a favor. Go over and post a comment, upload your picture, and tell them you have the right to know when our lakes and rivers are being polluted with sewage spills.

We are two people who love to go camping and hiking. We love the outdoors, and we are working on becoming as green as we can be.
